I too, am an engineer and completely get what you are pondering. In fact, I would love to be part of the design team asking the questions! Who knows where it would go...

What tickled was looking at coming full circle (again?) and not that it was an irrational thought. Matter of fact, it appeals.

The Marlin pic in my earlier post is a fright. I saw one in person and do believe I have never before in my life seen anything hit so hard with an ugly stick. That said, it was handy and useful. I could even see buying one if for no other reason than having the adjusto-stock for kid/women shooters. As an "Amish assualt rifle", it would probably serve.
