Last time I asked Siri how long I had until the milestone I got a very depressing answer. Hats off to those who’ve made that achievement.

I like their stuff. I have a 120 pattern for my 7 1/2" Ruger. Works great.

A good deal of wisdom in those words.

- Time is not more important than people.

- Happiness does not consist of stuff. It consists of people you love and who love you.

- Nothing in life is perfect. The most beautiful country in the world has mosquitoes!

- The art of waiting.

- That joy is not connected with circumstances
.
- To be content with what you have.

- To live in the grace of one day at a time.

- That a mango eaten in the shade of a tree on a hot day is more refreshing when shared with a friend.

- That sometimes asking questions is better than giving instructions.

- Even those in poverty are loving, kind, giving and enjoy sharing what they have.

- The rich are not people with a lot of stuff. The rich are people who need the least.

- Patience

- The importance of being WITH someone today! Appreciating them NOW! And communicating that to them in the moment!

- The strength of children.

- The harmony of love despite differences.

- The exterior of a person means little to nothing. It's what they are inside, that is vital.

- The power of community in the Holy Spirit.

When I was in college, I went to a big gun auction. It was well advertised and auction fever was in full effect. Prices were way too high for a poor college kid. It was mostly hunting guns with a few handguns near the end. I walked over to the handgun table and saw a 1911 looking auto that amongst other markings had c 11.25 mm on the slide. Doing some quick math, I figured that had to be very close to .45. Apparently nobody else did that math, or knew what it was and I ended up getting a very nice Ballestor-Molina for $100. I think my budget for the day was around $300, so I felt pretty good! I had that pistol for several years and shot it a good bit before selling it to a buddy who also wanted a .45 but couldn’t affford a ‘real’ 1911!

That was the one time that kept me from having a perfect non-attendance record... it remains a favorite memory for my sons and me. Met a lot of fine folk I'd only ever "seen" online. And have been privileged to run into many of them over the years in other places as well.

I have to say that almost all of the "gun people" I've met have been among the best. It's an honor to know them, and that includes you Murphy!

It was 22 years ago today I first met up with a bunch of fellow gun enthusiasts from around the country in a pasture down in Texas. I drove back home that evening after having dinner with them and it was one of those warm evenings you could leave the windows down and enjoy the music. I never dreamed at the time 22 years later I'd still be in touch with a lot of them, sadly too many of them have crossed the river Jordan. I made the next years shoot in Clarksville, Arkansas the following year. A finer group of men (and their spouses) one couldn't ask to call friends!

Just saw a report today that the new president of Coffee Country was photographed with a pistol on his belt while going about his daily duties. He's not going around kicking down doors and endangering himself, for crying out loud! He's making a statement along the lines of, "Good, honest citizens - arm yourselves legally!" He lifted the 11 year old ban on LEGALLY carrying a weapon and it failed, no blood on the streets yet, despite dire warnings.
