Ruger Americans
A gentleman who attends church with me is a retiree from Ruger, where he was a tool and die man. He actually warned me off the Ruger Americans, saying that those were the guns that were returned to Ruger most frequently for repair.
I'm not here to say that his story trumps yours; but I will say that "reports differ" on the relative quality of the Ruger American rifles.

PS: He had a glowing report on the Vaqueros; he said they almost never came back for repair.
