$20.00 and a little elbow grease

In the mid-60s, Herretts came out with their first off the shelf grips called "Shooting Star". The wood was a very pedestrian light walnut and the checkering was coarse. For an extra $10.00, you could get the "Presentation Shooting Star" grips. The latter came with very good walnut and no checkering to hide the wood.

Last month I picked up a beat up early pair of Presentation Shooting Star grips for the Colt "I" frame DA revolver. They were dinged up and the finish had blistered. In general they looked terrible.

Today after a rehab, I put them back on my 5" Official Police. This is what $20.00 and a little elbow grease will get you these days.
