It works, is almost free, and if you line the clamps with inner tube, errr, Ranger Bands, won't mark your foreend. Someone here or on FB posted a Larry Vickers column about a similar carbine setup that he ran during GW1 to good effect.

Filter gels for the flashlight are easy to find online, if you don't have access to any locally.

Or you can go with a fancier, shmancier solution if you plan to keep the light mounted more permanently.
