If you don't wear a shirt between the gun and your skin such as in the summer, then it will eat you alive. In winter with more layers of clothing it works well.
I've always thought the Commander length was the best length 1911 period. A full size seems too long to me, and even the Kimber Pro series seems a tiny bit too short. The Commander is just right.
I think a SIG P239 or Glock 23 is a better summer carry gun, less stuff on the lefthand side to mess with your skin.
