Notes from today's time at the range.
(1) NEVER forget your spotting scope.
(2) Glock 19s and some flavor of AR15s are the most common firearms in the US, I'm sure. You cannot go to a public range w/o seeing both being used, and usually one either side of you.
(3) The people there were basically safe except they were very slack in calling a cold range. I didn't fling lead at any inopportune time, but not because they made that easy. However, no muzzle waving, fingers on triggers at the wrong time, or such.
(4) I saw no revolvers.
(5) I am not a Fudd. In fact, I believe the US Constitution requires me to own an M4 carbine. That said, black guns don't really interest me much. However I got to fling a few rounds downrange with an Aero lower/CMMG upper 9mm carbine, and CMMG has the easy shooting PCC figured out.
(6) Suppressors are part of the landscape in my state anymore. Walmart sells CCI std vel .22LR, and I have to assume most of that is sent through cans. I shot 2 of my cheaper cans on my quite decent Smith SW22 Victory, and my quite cheap Keltec P17. Every round I fired was quiet. No one comments, and I suspect no one was interested.
(7) Again, black guns generally interest me no more than Bic pens. But the Smith and Wesson .22LR AR15 copy looked like fun.
(8) Urinate before going to the range.
