Shootists Single Six

Years ago The Shootists started a "custom" of ordering a special run of firearms made especially for The Shootists. The understanding was that no other guns would be made just like these. I was blessed to be part of beginning of that.

The first gun was a special Ruger Single Six ... stainless steel Bisley .. engraved with our name and a Memorial to Tom Ruger on the barrel. It came about through the work of Terry Murbach and if he chooses, I will let John Taffin tell the story.

Suffice it to say these are rare as only 52 were made. Years ago I loved going to a gun show where the Ruger Collectors had a booth. I would walk around with the gun in my belt or my hand and drive some of them a little crazy.

The gun came with a set of standard Ruger wood grips. The grips on mine are carved elephant ivory by Paul Persinger.

I know of several of these that have been modified. At least one has had the "booklet" removed from the left side of the barrel. There were others that had accuracy problems and were rebarreled. There are others that have never been fired and are in pristine condition. The last time I looked at the prices these were listed as being worth I was shocked at how high they had gone. My stays in the family and will not be sold.
