Rossi 92 16” 44 Magnum: First Impressions

I have the octagon in 357 Mag vs the 44 Mag, but thought I was the only one that detested the factory's full buckhorn sights. I was reluctant to grind them flat since I have an aversion to greatly modifying anything to a gun I might not retain and having read that the dovetail may or may not be an oddball size on some rifles. I just had issues obtaining a good sight picture and holding it, especially well enough to develop adequately precise loads(more on this in a separate thread to avoid drift).

I ordered a couple of sets of their tang sights when they were offered, but since they were made of unobtainium they were never received.

I had it out last week looking at the efforts required to fit a shotgun style butt stock I recently purchased, which of course required shouldering it and looking at the sights . . . Just maybe with a stock that fits me better I can work on the sight picture.

Heck, after using the original sights to get a Japanese Type 99 shooting cast last summer I can probably learn to shoot with any kind of sight.
