Groundhogs...
I thought everyone already knew of the change from "Green tip" to lead free m855a1 ammunition.
It out penetrates M80 7.62mm on steel plate and AARs indicate that even in short barreled carbines is an excellent performer equal to 7.62mm in the ability to make things stop moving real fast.
In addition, it is match grade accuracy round and is spec'd to hold 8" at 600 yards out of a service rifle. There has never been a mil spec service round that shoots that straight.
This is a revolutionary and evolutionary development in 5.56mm ammunition and is probably as good as the 5.56mm will ever get or needs to get.
The only downside to the m855a1 is that it operates at very high pressure and causes increased wear to the weapons. Big deal. Barrels and bolts are cheap.
I am around Army and USMC Infantry officers everyday and the general position is that the M4 is fine and the m855a1 is spectacular and those that complain about the m16/5.56mm the loudest just don't know what they are talking about.
Cheers
