Good info
I didn't find it necessary to do so on a Springfield 1911 .38 Super, and the recommended spring rates for both calibers are often the same.
HOWEVER!
Guns are individuals unto themselves and what works with some doesn't work for others. In the end we just have to try and see. Sometimes you're lucky!
