I went from 38s to 9mm and had to change
the weight of the spring. I would guess that the 9mm spring would be a little light and allow unnecessary force on the frame. I have not tested this. I did find a light 38s load that I was happy with in both my 1911 and S&W revolver. I was able to use the original 9mm spring with that load.
