Ruger SR9 and SR40: Experience? Opinions?
I was at a gun show this weekend and saw the Ruger SR9 for the first time (I'm a revolver guy and don't usually pay any attention to semi-autos). I liked the feel, at least empty, and the large capacity in a relatively thin grip. I've read Mr. Quinn's columns on the Ruger SR pistols, but was wondering if any of you have owned one for a while and really wrung it out? How does it do after it's been shot a while? Does it digest serious personal defense ammo without issue? Is the trigger pull smooth and light enough to control without pulling the sights off target? What else can you tell me about them?
As an aside, the asking price on the SR9 was $339, which seems to have been a screaming buy, based on what I'm seeing the asking price to be on line. There had been a .40 earlier, but it had sold before I got there.
All this because I stopped to look at a near mint Colt Police Positive 4" .38, which I ended up not buying because it wasn't quite pristine enough to be collectible without an accompanying box and papers. I really should stop going to gun shows for the sake of my economic well-being, but it's more entertaining and cheaper than a movie.
Thanks.
