My full-size 3rd generation is a well made gun
Has been basically flawless, although I hardly ever shoot it any longer.
For a woman, the 3rd Gen Lady Smith or 3913 is a much better choice, with the slimmer single stack grip frame and improved design. In style and feel they remind me of a Commander, in an 80s crunchenticker way.
I question the utility of the slide mounted safety. It seems double redundant in function, 'backward' or not.
With the right training, the double action can be mastered to good effect.
Personally, I like the little .45s of that era, but it sounds like she wants a 9mm.
