he gifted it to his 18 year old. That gun with it slight tune up, is superb. I'd look online for a trigger job solution and get it done.

I had tried to like Glocks, bought 2 or 3 of them over the years and really worked at shooting them well. I just couldn't do it.

I owned a Glock 17 when the M&P came out. I read a lot of glowing reviews on it and bought the first one I saw for sale. I took it to the range and could shoot it almost as well as my Ruger 22 auto pistol. I put the Glock up for sale the next day.

I did find that even though the small grip insert feels better to me, I shoot better with the medium insert.

My first M&P 45 had a trigger job done on it before I bought it. It was a superb trigger, but was so light that I wasn't comfortable with it as a carry gun. I sold that one, a couple of years ago, and have recently picked up an M&P 45 midsize. This one has the thumb safety and has also had a trigger job. I like this setup so well that I'm considering trading my standard M&P 9 for one with the safety and do a trigger job on it.

My advice would be to try out a Glock for a while, that will make you appreciate the M&P.

I can make pretty good hits out to 25 yards. I like the trigger much better than the Glock's.

Dry fire and watch where the pistol moves, then adjust your hold and/or trigger pull to correct. Practice with the M&P only until it becomes natural. The trigger is different to what you are used to and you will need to relearn and fine tune your skills.
I have two M&P compacts, 9 and 40. Both needed to be broke in. The triggers are not lighter but very smooth.

You can re-shape the sear, but you might as well just buy an Apex one.

I polished it and all the applicable trigger works, re-shaped and polished the striker block, then did the "add a screw" pre-travel mod and the trigger is just dandy.
