Paging Slow Hand . . . . Kydex OWB holster for Glock 19

I like the look of the kydex pancake holster you made for the Glock 19.

Do you have any more pics? I would like to see the other side.

Most of the kydex pancakes I see have separate belt loops bolted to the back. I like the way you cut belt loops in the kydex.

I'm thinking about making one for a cz75.

Thanks for any help.

Bob

Any advice about the project is appreciated.

Thanks, Bob. I was pretty happy for my first foray into the kydex field. Only pic I have of the back is before it was finished but that might help even more than a finished pic!

Basically for the belt loops, I just drilled two holes and then connected them with a coping saw I smoothed the slots out and opened them up by heating with my heat gun and inserting a piece of 1/4 x 1 1/2" bar stock I had. One other thing I do is bend the edges. Ack some so it conforms to the shape of your body better. I took. Piece of 1x2 and cut a slot in it about 1/4" wide by 1/2" deep, running the length of the board. Heat an edge up until its slightly flexible and bend it backwards some.

Have you worked with kydex at all? It's pretty easy, just takes a few specialized items. I beat the kydex in a 350 degree oven until it gets flexible and use a home made press. Small shaping can be accomplished with a heat gun. One thing I found on the Glock is that there is a big step where the ejection port is open to the barrel. If you don't fill it in with something (I used Popsicle sticks) the kydex will form into it making a draw almost impossible!

I'm no expert but feel free to ask any questions and I'll do what I can to help.

also the mag holder. Have been working with various belt-sites/combos and I'm good to goo with a baggy t-shirt. Sturdy belt loops, also. Just dandy for 'going to town' and other mass exposure to the human herd.

Glad you are liking it, John. I was surprised at how well mine hid as well. Most times I've worn it it has just been covered with a t-shirt. I didfeel better after dyeing my belt loops black so they blend in with my belt. I need to make a spare mag pouch for myself Hugo have an idea I want to try out. Just need time to make it!

That helps a lot. I wanted to see how you molded the back and how you bent the sides to allow the belt loops to pull in a bit closer.

I've done a bit with Kydex. I've made two IWB holsters for .38 snubbies, and one for a Tariq 7.65 (don't ask).

I've recently made a pocket holster with Kydex.

But I've never made a pancake, and I'm looking for inspiration.

I think you've provided plenty.

Thanks a bunch.

Bob

How did the pocket holster work out? Any pics? I thought about trying one but I'm happy with my home made leather pocket holster. I like the fact that it has a little flex to conform to different pants pockets.
