Price check on an Ideal 38 special tong tool?

This is NOT the Lyman 310, but the Ideal steel tool handle that is marked as to caliber, in this case it's 38 special. It comes with the dies as well and is in excellent shape considering the age. It does NOT have the original box, being packed in a ragged old Lyman 310 box. Any idea what something like this is worth?

Dunno, but...

Here's some GB data for you...

http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=292473046
http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=293769306

This one has been listed multiple times with the highest bid at $315 with "Reserve Not Met" => http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=304734449

Same guy, multiple listings, high of $66 "RNM" => http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=304736311

So, my guess would be 'anywhere between $15 and $350'.

No need to thank me. ;-)

Thanks, Hoot...

I searched too specifically for the 38 special version and came up dry. Didn't occur to me to try different calibers. The one at http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=294903342 is fairly close to what I have, only I've got the original dies and such as well.

Thanks, Hoot...

The older steel handles were caliber specific. The aluminum handles had screw in inserts/adapters that would work with most calibers, if you changed the inserts/adapters.

If you have the dies, I have a set of aluminum handles with a correct insert for 38 Special. I also could fill in with any dies (38 Special) you might need as I have several sets. Tell me what you have and we will go from there.

You can have these free of charge, if you need them, as they are surplus to my needs. They are just hanging around my shop gathering dust.

Yes, I bought a good nickle plated Ideal Middlefield Conn No. 3 in 38 Special handle and dies about three months ago for a little less than $50.00.

It is is marked iddlefield Conn. it was made by Lyman. It is is nickled plated it was made before the start of WWII. Nickle was needed for the war effort so Lyman blued them until about 1947 when they went to the aluminum 310 handles.

I load about 100 rounds a week with mine.

I checked and I paid $64.00 for it. It came with a an extra expanding die, plus RN, WC and SWC bullet seating noses.
