My buddy has the afore mentioned sixgun and is having some issues. The hammer will not lock back all of the time on 4 out of 6 chambers. Not sure it is the same 4 all of the time, as I haven't messed with it all that much. Just curious if anyone has seen a similar problem?

Could be a base pin issue... did he install an oversize one and has the lock screw too tight? Or, if it is the original, is the one that is in there fully seated and not turned so that the collar is acting as a lever on the bottom of the barrel?
If not a base pin issue, the only other obvious thing I would check is the pawl...perhaps it is too high and needs to be fitted...something Ruger would need to do (or a competent local gunsmith).
I have have absolutely zero issues with my Super Blackhawk Bisley Hunter 45 Colt, it functions like a champ.
