Finally shot the XDm .45

Last Friday I finally shot the new XDm 4.5 .45 auto (bi-tone). Nothing past 15 yards and a lot of them at a Redneck Zombie target.

Shot better than my old Glock 22 -- crisper trigger pull, and the heavier slide and overall weight (about a half-pound heavier than the Glock) helped a lot with the recoil from Fiocchi .45 hardball ammo (230 grains). Tried the "riding the sear" trick that resulted in a lot of really surprise let-offs ...

The grip was easier on my hand than the Colt .45 auto; I usually get a small bruise on the web of my shooting hand after the first 40 rounds. The sorta-Browning Hi-Power grip of the XDm was far more comfortable.

More muzzle flip than the Colt? Yeah, but I've experienced that with Sigs and Glocks and survived. Accuracy? This gun has that annoying "1+4" syndrome and tends to through that first shot way to the left and then the other four like to cluster together. So I learned to compensate by aiming way to the left for that first shot.

I enjoyed the session. Heck, I usually do, no matter what I shoot.
