My first Freedom Arms

I’ve wanted a FA for years and shooting several of them from you fellas here hasn’t helped. I wasn’t currently lo9king, but this one came up on a local board and after some thinking and talking with the owner (and prodding by some here) I drove up and picked up a 7.5” premier model 83 in .50 ae with a lot of extras last weekend. I loaded up some ammo over the week and was able to go shoot it yesterday. It was a lot of fun and while I didn’t shoot it up to it’s potential, I’m looking forward to getting better with it!

I loaded up 60 rounds, mostly of lifter 900-1000 fps loads with cast 325’s. The video is of a minimum load of H110, but still close to 1400 fps. Fun stuff!

Those don't look too bad. And it appears you are having fun with it! That's a good thing. Congratulations on a great find.

Congrads, everyone should own a FA, amazing revolvers but beware of the barrel/cylinder gap, that puppy is cutting torch in disguise :-(

Sadly I only have one in my collection at the moment, at one time I had four.

When the bugs land and start eating people you're ready now.

Congratulations!

It's been a few years ago now since I purchased my only Freedom Arms, a Model 83 in 454 Casull with a 6" barrel. I used to run it pretty hard, but now-a-days I run mostly everything under 1300 fps. They are scary accurate, and I personally find the Freedom Arms grip frame the absolute best for recoil, the Bisley is next. Hope you enjoy many years of shooting yours!
