Is it just me, or is Henry putting out some really interesting long guns these days?

I should know better than to futz around on Gunbroker. It's like my own little gun show... I want EVERYTHING.

Have you ever looked through Cabela's Gun Library?

THOUSANDS OF USED GUNS! Rifles - Handguns - Shotguns

https://www.cabelas.com/l/used-guns

Sometimes you can find a great deal. And the cool thing: You call the store that has the gun and buy it. Then they ship it free of charge to the nearest Cabela's or Bass Pro to you. You go in and fill out the paperwork and pick up your gun for NO CHARGE! No Shipping fees. No paying for them filling out their part of handling the gun and transferring it to you. Saves a lot of money. You just pay what the gun is listed for plus tax.

It's very well put together and nicely finished but was surprisingly heavier than I expected. I did not shoot it but have heard good things.

I handled one in a gun store last spring while visiting the soon to be Master Sergeant (now accomplished). As you mention, heavy. Should be about like shooting a 10/22 as far as recoil goes if using standard 9mm ammo.

Congratulations to the Master Sargent!

Please thank him for his service.

Henry's stuff

Henry's customer service is pretty decent. I don't care for that weird shaped lever on the carbine, but their little 22 is a sweet handling rifle and folks I've talked to seem to hold their other rifles in high esteem. The negative comments I've read have been directed at their sixgun, it is ugly is the opinion of many. Haven't seen on in person yet so I reserve personal judgment in that area.

It's as heavy as my old 1886 .45-70 Winchester. I did not care for it personally .. just a prejudice of mine. The .22 is amazing and will feed almost anything smoothly.

I can't get enthused about brass framed leverguns - unless somehow I were to inherit an original Henry. :-D My brother has one of the 22's and it wouldn't work at all, it had the wrong magazine follower setup, no idea what it was from, but it was NOT an original Henry one. Andy Larsson put me in touch with the folks at Henry and they sent me an original follower for the rifle - no charge! By the time it arrived it was too late to get out to the range, but it ran a tube full of cartridges through just fine, without firing. I assume (yeah, I know) that it'll run just fine even adding the step of pulling the trigger between cranking the lever. Somehow I don't think my brother has gotten it to the range either. Between a honeymoon, new job and now a new baby in the family he's not had much time for the range.
