Mossberg forend….
I’m going to change the forend on my new Mossberg 590A1. It has a “tactical” style on it now, with slots for M-Lok accessories. I’m swapping it out for a traditional corncob style. I have zero interest in attaching gizmos to my shotgun.
I used to have one of those tools to remove the locking ring, the ones that are essentially a piece of tubing with nubs on the end. That was over 30 years ago, and it has gone the way of the dodo.
Any suggestions for a substitute tool? Or should I pop for another piece of tubing that will sit unused for a millennium thereafter?
I’ve convinced myself I can simply chase the locking ring with a piece of brass rod, tap tap-tapping it around.
Edited to add that I can duplicate the correct tool using a piece of PVC, but I can’t recall how firmly those locking rings are cinched down.
