In the late 90's American Handgunner published a story about a new design 1911a1 pistol by Les Baer called a Heavy Weight Monolith in 45 acp, full slide and full heavy frame, unlike any 1911 I had ever seen and I instantly fell in love with it.

A few months ago I was in a unique position, for the first time since reading the article I actually had the money to afford a Monolith but also found one available. Being a die hard 1911 guy and a huge Les Baer fan I bought it!

Typical Baer, nothing fancy just rock solid, top line parts hard fitted and WAY more accurate than I could ever dream to be! This now pushes my Baer collection to four- 4.25" Comanche, 5" Government, 6" long slide and now a 5" Monolith.

Something funny happened while shooting the Monolith one day, visual proof of a flinch.....standing at 10 yards trying to shoot the X out of the center of the target and had 4 good hits, which I noticed and it made me start thinking about messing up the fifth shot and ruining the group to which I proceeded to do :-(
