Casting A Few Today

I was running low on the cast bullet for my .41 Magnum so I broke out the mold, heated the lead and cast about 300. The mold is NEI 230 gr. Flat Point. I have a 215 gr. SWC mold but never use it. I tried it but did not like it as well as the slightly heavier NEI. It's not the weight of the NEI but the shape. This is a much better bullet for long range shooting and the fairly large flat meplat should work well on game. I have never shot any game with it, but if I were needing deep penetration I believe this is the bullet I would use.

It seems pretty accurate if the nut holding the stocks does his part.

And looks like a great bullet both for game and targets. I have a couple NEI molds and they cast wonderfully. Best aluminum molds I’ve ever used. One is a 20gr SWC which I hardly shoot, but it drops a good lookin bullet. The other is a 195 .358 SWC-GC. It’s a lot of fun to shoot out of my Rossi lever action.

That is a good looking bullet, never had the urge to cast for myself, though over the years a few molds caught my eye and interested me but I never committed to start casting.
