Reloading mistake
7 gr of HS6 is a top end 357 load for lead, according to Hodgdons, but just above a starting 357 load for jacketed bullets of the same weight. Cast bullet data is often emasculated by powder manufacturers for some asinine reason. For 38 Spl, the load is over maximum by .8 gr, according to their std velocity jacketed bullet data. Hodgdons shows no data for a lead 38 Spl +P with HS6, but show 6.6 gr as maximum for 158 gr JHP loads. Your load seems to be in the 38-44 range, and if I were the one who had to deal with this situation, I personally would shoot them in the 686, saving them for a cooler day, not the 100+ degrees we're experiencing around here. You have to make your own decisions.
