(1) NEVER forget your spotting scope.

(2) Glock 19s and some flavor of AR15s are the most common firearms in the US, I'm sure. You cannot go to a public range w/o seeing both being used, and usually one either side of you.

(3) The people there were basically safe except they were very slack in calling a cold range. I didn't fling lead at any inopportune time, but not because they made that easy. However, no muzzle waving, fingers on triggers at the wrong time, or such.

(4) I saw no revolvers.

(5) I am not a Fudd. In fact, I believe the US Constitution requires me to own an M4 carbine. That said, black guns don't really interest me much. However I got to fling a few rounds downrange with an Aero lower/CMMG upper 9mm carbine, and CMMG has the easy shooting PCC figured out.

(6) Suppressors are part of the landscape in my state anymore. Walmart sells CCI std vel .22LR, and I have to assume most of that is sent through cans. I shot 2 of my cheaper cans on my quite decent Smith SW22 Victory, and my quite cheap Keltec P17. Every round I fired was quiet. No one comments, and I suspect no one was interested.

(7) Again, black guns generally interest me no more than Bic pens. But the Smith and Wesson .22LR AR15 copy looked like fun.

(8) Urinate before going to the range.

If you forget your spotting scope ....

but have your camera/phone .. at 50 yards it works fine to zoom in as much as it will, snap the photo, then look at the photo and zoom in on it. Even small caliber holes show up.

Learned the hard way.

First and foremost I'm glad you got to the range.

2. Anymore I urinate before leaving for the range, on arrival at the range and before leaving the range.

3. I was the ONLY revolver shooter in our NRA Precision pistol (all .22 LR) "league".

4. I shot CCI Standard Velocity. It does work well in a suppressor. I am not good enough to tell the difference between that and match ammo although it does require a sight change when using other ammo.

5. I have an M4gery because I should, as noted, as it is a "constitutional" requirement. But only OLD (as in older than me) semi-autos interest me like the Garand, Remington Model 8, and the Browning .22 Auto (mine is the derivative Remington 241).

6. BOTH of the ranges (clubs) of which I'm a member have a light alarm system for going cold and failure to use it is grounds for expulsion. We have pretty good compliance even when no one else is at the range. We know this because we also have security cameras.

7. I should have a good spotting scope. I don't. I'm open to recommendations.
