The fact the forearm was proportional was what made me think it was factory. Most people don't do that. I lopped no less than 2 20" Marlin 336s back to 16.5", and didn't do that to either one. The extra length was nice (to me) as far as handling, but the trapper length rifles looked disproportionate.
