Cast gas-checked .357 Mag bullets in .35 Remington
Hi all.
I'm sourcing some .35 Remington brass for use in a Marlin levergun. I may yet buy some jacketed bullets... might have to wait a couple paydays before I can swing that. Jeesh.
In the meantime I've got a bullet mold that throws a Ray Thompson-designed SWC with a gas check at about 180 grains, originally designed for the .357 Manglem. I'm kind of eyeing that bullet and asking myself if it might be useful in .35 Remington at moderate velocities.
By "moderate velocities" I mean moderate for the .35 Remington. It would still be above and beyond the call of duty for .357 Mag. Say, 1850 fps or so?
It seems like something Paco Kelly might have done, but for some reason his articles aren't coming up in my searches... just references to his articles.
Does anyone here have a favorite recipe for this application?
Thanks,
