I wrote the seller and asked if this was indeed a cartridge gun.
His reply......

Pictures don't appear to show a cartridge cylinder...how would you load a 20 gauge shell?

He's pulling your leg... it's a Le Matt black powder cap-n-ball revolver with a shotgun chamber and barrel as the center cylinder "pin"... not a cartridge gun... in the ad, it is mislabeled as 45Colt... look at the pictures... it tells everything.

Scammer who know just enough, but not quite?

look up LeMat revolver.... It's a cap-n-ball invented by LeMat of New Orleans... they were used by the Confederacy in the Civil War ... originally in .36 or .42 cal with a 20 ga center smooth bore barrel in the center (used as the center pin for the cylinder) ... final version were pin-fire cartridge versions..

Normally a scammer just uses someone else's photos.

Whomever took those photos typed out .45 Colt and 20ga. So the real owner.... er.. the person in possession of the pistol, knows nothing.
