an uncommon single action revolver in 44 magnum.

it is a rather slender gun, with overall size closer to a colt than a ruger.

the smooth side plates are interesting....how do you take them off?

The Mikkenger. Take off the grip panels, and the answer will probably reveal itself.

He has a copy of the ultra rare reference book on them. He let me borrow it for a while and I read it cover to cover.

As a bit of trivia, Bill Grover really liked these revolvers and had several of them. I wound up with some of his Mikkengers several years ago, but they have since found new homes. He studied them as he wanted to make a "screwless" TLA revolver, but I have found no evidence that he ever made his own version.

had no idea Bill Grover liked these....Elmer Keith did

I have a second one that I got years ago, from an estate. it is a tool room gun I think, but works perfect, super smooth action etc.

need to find someone to polish and blue the darn thing. got it really cheap.

David collaborates with Bobby and is less well known but equally competent. Very interesting .44 Harold! Maybe I can take you to lunch in late June or July? I hope to be up that way.
