Uberti birdshead Stallion .38 spec. 3 1/2" range report
Took the little Uberti single six size .38 Stallion out shooting. Remington and Winchester lead round nose and jacketed truncated cone factory ammo. Once I settled down the little gun would consistently shoot into 2 1/2" at twenty yards. That is as good I can do two handed considering the sights. Front blade measures .090" thick rear notch measures .100" wide, that is not much daylight on each side of the front sight. It is shooting about 5" low and centered which is a good thing. A little filing down of the front sight to bring groups up and if I need windage adjustments I can widen the rear notch a little left or right. The trigger is creep free and trips clean. The cylinder is well fitted with .002" total cylinder frame clearance. Cylinder barrel gap is a loose .004" tight .005", cylinder lockup is not FA bank vault tight but has minimal movement. I am really liking how this little short barrel birdshead feels and handles. It's easy to send empty 12 ga. hulls flying into the tall weeds from as far out as 10 yards. I ordered 500 Bear Creek 148 gr. HBWC just to shoot in this little Stallion. Any suggestions for an 850 fps to 900 fps max. load? With LilGun maybe? 4227? I don't want to exceed 19,000 psi.
