2 Marines are amphibious assault specialists
3 Outside the physical borders of the United States, any enlistment bonus is exempt from income tax. I've seen some inventive ways to do that, but this one, if for that reason, is rather unusual.
Most of my guys tried to schedule their deployments to coincide with their re-up date for the same reason.
