It was 36 years for me 12/31/17. 26 with the same company. I feel your pain

Congratulations?

From an earlier post, it sounded voluntary. Either way, I wish the best for you.

My "unemployment" came about 4 years ago after 33 years with the same company. It wasn't my plan but I spun it into retirement and, I must say, I've been having a ball!

Cheers!

Congratulations?

If six months from now you are wishing you were employed again, so you could get a day off. You are doing it right. Enjoy and good luck in all your future endeavors, just Don't slow down.

Congratulations

I retired 10 years ago. Keep busy and enjoy it.

Well just like that 10 days

ago both of the pump trucks pulled out of the driveway and moved to the shop of my long time employee. He and his wife bought our pumping business and for the first time since June of 1975 I don't have a job to head to when I wake up. Amazing how many things that need worked on that seemed invisible last week! It does take some work to wrap ones head around all that this change means.

Retirement is a fraud. I have less control over my free time

than I did when I was working 12-16 hour days, 6-7 days a week. Be jealous of your time and save some of it for yourself.

If you decide to take another job.........I wish you well. If not I hope you enjoy retirement as much as this ole boy does. I longed for this all my working days. I owe a bit on 12 acres I purchased & may take a part time job to finish paying the loan but I will never go back to a full time job because I'm bored. I can't wait to get up of the morning & put my pants on. Life if good.

Retired in 2000 s at 62 and have never looked back. Managing six Saturdays a week is a hard job. I wish you well in any area you choose to go.

Well just like that..., Congratulations!

I found myself suddenly unemployed and unemployable about 30 years ago, but I was not yet 30 years old at the time and had no retirement plan in place yet. Retirement can be fun, hope you figure a way to enjoy the heck out of it.
