Favorite bullet for the 44 Mag?

Mine is the 429244.
I have found the gas check Thompson design to be the most universally accurate bullet in about every 44 mag. I've seen it shot through.
Granted, I haven't the experience in total number of different bullets that a bunch of you guys, but the 429244 is a winner in my book.

I have to agree with MS...

I love the Keith design, and shoot plenty of them, but the Thompson gas-checked bullet almost always out shoots it at any range.

I've used 9-10gr. Universal, WLP or CCI 300
Comparable loads of WSF, my data is all packed due to our move, but since Universal and WSF are very close in burn rate, availability of a free 8lb.can of WSF I worked up a load. Accuracy was close enough to make no difference.
23 gr. WW296, CCI 350
Near max loads of 4227

with the GC bullet are rather simple, either 10.0 gr of Unique or 20.0 gr of 2400. I killed the biggest buck I've ever taken, an 11 point that field dressed at a little over 175 lbs, with the Unique load at 65 yards out of a Mountain Revolver. The 2400 load, as that powder generally is for me at almost any charge weight, is a bit more accurate in my guns. Will say, my can of 2400 is older and I believe they changed the formulation a few years ago, so you may have to adjust for the new powder.

I had a couple hundred 300 grain .44s. They looked

like a longer 429421. I loved those for using in my Mountain Guns while in AK.
a 255 Keith is still hard to beat.

...I shoot more 429421s in the .44 Magnum than all other bullets combined. For deer, my favorite is the 429421 HP. For hogs and elk, my favorite would be the HP version of the RCBS 300 grain GC-SWC that Erik Ohlen modified for me.

Used nothing but 2400 in this evening's loading session. Mostly 429421s, but a few NOE 295s, and a handful of Nosler 240gr JCP. Haven't tried 2400 with the NOE bullet yet, so we shall see.

Favorite bullet for the 44 Mag?

Pretty much all cast bullets above. My favorite for nearly 4 decades has been the Sierra 240 JHC. I should feel so ashamed ....

Lately it's the 240 XTP and 240 Remington SJHP/SJFP because I haven't had time to cast a bullet in a very long time. But I generally like the 429421 over anything else. I still have a good stash but I'm hoarding them until I can take some vacation time and dedicate a good day to casting some more.
