I also taken to thinking there are other predators I will shoot if I ever see them. The state says they don't exist here, so I obviously can't be breaking the rules, shooting something that doesn't exist.

You be carefull, if you shoot something that doesn't exist then you have killed it out of season, yes I am serious, they will ticket you for killing it out of season as there is no season. I know, I know, go figger? D.C.
