Two latest acquisitions

Folks,

1) Ideal Grade L.C. Smith, circa 1922, 12 gauge, 28 inch barrels. Been around the block obviously but in decent shape. Stock has its fair share of dings. Have not yet fired it.

2) S&W K-38 Target Masterpiece, 6 inch barrel, standard trigger and hammer. Built in 1953. Non-original grips (Herret target grips with built-in thumb rest). Shows wear on outside but crisp and sharp on the inside. Have not acquired it, just put a down payment on it. My birthday money should cover most of the rest. Have to start the permit process for the umpteenth time, of course.

My only birth year gun is a K38, 1953

by Murphy @, Monday, August 28, 2017, 21:11 (2645 days ago) @ Scribe

It took a while of watching the various auction sites, but I found a dandy several years back. Shoots like a dream.

Congrats on your new purchases.

Don't recall ever hearing of a K-38 that didn't shoot like a dream. They didn't name it the Masterpiece for nothin'.

I fell into a K-38 for next to nothing some years ago. Very much cosmetically challenged, but still shot like a laser. I eventually sent it back to S&W for a tuneup and reblue, and it came back looking as good as it shot. Roy Jinks said it was made in 1949.

This Target Masterpiece has a dimmed luster, but is not very challenged, looks-wise.

My Mom always said I went for the ones with personality. Took me years to figure out what she was trying to say ...

Don't have a birth year gun thus far -- that'd be 1951. A lot of '50s guns, but never one that exact date.
