changing S&W front sight?

Speaking of shooting high/low...

Has anybody been involved in changing out a S&W pinned front sight blade? I need one that is about 0.060" taller. I don't know if S&W makes/sells blades with different heights but it seems if you could find one for the right model then you could file it down.

Dawson Precision makes replacement pinned front sights of varying height and width. S&W, per my call to them, only makes one front sight. I had a 'smith install the one I bought for my 686 5", works great.

When mounting the new sight make sure to drill in from each side. Do not try to drill through . Start one side switch to the other side then remove the sight and drill it off the gun and then remount it and the pin will work. J.Michael

As of a few years ago, S&W offered several different styles and heights of front sight blade. I replaced the red ramp on a couple of revolvers with a black partridge sight. As was mentioned drill from each side.

I need to get a replacement front and rear for a 317. It has the V rear with Hi Viz front, and I just can't get repeatable longer range accuracy out of them.

I've got a 351PD I'd like to change from the plastic ray-gun sight. Thanks for the Dawson link.
