This day in history the first american solider was killed in Vietnam, Lt. Col. Peter Dewey.

A few miles south of you Lynn is the home of the first American soldier killed in the Korean War. I believe his name was Kenneth Shadrach (sp?) There is a bridge near Mullens, WV that is named after him.

Been on that bridge. He's buried in Beckley Veterans’ Cemetery.
