This weekend our club had the last .22 benchrest shoot.
We had beautiful weather, 18 shooters, and a great lunch (prepared by my wife). She saw an opportunity to make the club some money that could be added to the capital expansion fund (needed to give us enough room on some critical terrain to preserve the club) and cooked meals including breakfast for 3 visiting club shoots. We had some of the usual winners but notable was a 3rd time competitor, a 16-year old girl, who placed 2nd in 2 classes of the benchrest competition. She is doing really well, is genuinely interested and kicking butt. Everybody is excited to have a younger shooter. I think the next younger shooter is in his 40s.
I was really chuffed because I didn't shoot any worse than last time AND I won the golf ball shoot. In that we hang golf balls at 50 yards and one shoots them off hand, again with .22 LR rifles. Any sight, any rifle allowed. I won with the Kingston Armory M1-22. We did run up the pot a bit and then I changed ammo and hit two in a row. Do I SOUND excited? Yeah, I AM!
