This weekend our club had the last .22 benchrest shoot.

We had beautiful weather, 18 shooters, and a great lunch (prepared by my wife). She saw an opportunity to make the club some money that could be added to the capital expansion fund (needed to give us enough room on some critical terrain to preserve the club) and cooked meals including breakfast for 3 visiting club shoots. We had some of the usual winners but notable was a 3rd time competitor, a 16-year old girl, who placed 2nd in 2 classes of the benchrest competition. She is doing really well, is genuinely interested and kicking butt. Everybody is excited to have a younger shooter. I think the next younger shooter is in his 40s.

I was really chuffed because I didn't shoot any worse than last time AND I won the golf ball shoot. In that we hang golf balls at 50 yards and one shoots them off hand, again with .22 LR rifles. Any sight, any rifle allowed. I won with the Kingston Armory M1-22. We did run up the pot a bit and then I changed ammo and hit two in a row. Do I SOUND excited? Yeah, I AM! :-D

Sounds like a great time. Your wife sounds like a great helpmate. Congrats on the win.

Sounds like a great time indeed!

I'm itching to get the new club land organized enough that we can use it regularly. Plans are in the works for an introductory gathering to introduce folks to the world of shooting. Airguns are likely to be one of our greatest draws as firearms and ammunition are so high priced, tightly regulated and difficult to obtain (legally). Methinks something similar to your golf ball shoot would be a good way to get going, albeit at a closer range. :)

Sounds like a great time indeed!

Air guns are a great way to go.

Yep but it would be no trick at all at 10 meters, maybe 20..

Try eggs at 75 yards with a 45 longrifle. Look for a whitish mist at the moment of firing
