the real M1 is a great rifle for standing
It balances well and has a long sight radius. I don't know how well that imitation balances.
The standard highpower rifle target is approx. 6 m.o.a. so that would be a 3" circle at 50 yards. Practice until you can hit that one 70-80%.
Vision is another thing. Older people usually need some help focusing on the front sight although the full sight radius of the M1 helps there. A lot of people shooting the shorter sight radius of the M1A or AR15 would use a lens in their rear aperture. A smaller rear aperture helps to focus on the rear sight, but if you have little cataracts you may need a larger rear aperture.
I've read recommendations to use a wide front post so you might be good there.
And BTW I want to see the little 8-round clips for that thing.
