Drill it or fill it???????
Need a little of advice or choice concerning my M57.....
The roll pin in the grip frame that keeps the grip panels aligned is the smallest roll pin I have ever seen on a Smith. Typical problem with S&W target grips is the hole in the panels that goes over the roll pin gets enlarged which in turn allows the grip panel, usually the right side, to move slightly when pulling the trigger, gripping and/or firing. It is a issue that drives me completely crazy even if ever so slight hint of movement.
First thought was to clamp the frame in the mill, open the pin hole up and install a more robust roll pin.
Second thought was to wood putty the holes in the back side of the grip panels and re-drill them.
My concern is with the small roll pin is the problem will come back somewhere down the road if I use the fill method. My other concern is the hardened frame, while the new hole will only be slightly bigger could I still run into issues drilling it out?
Advice/choice.......drill or fill???????
