I never knew a 242 existed, and now I want one.

Had to look it up too.

Just when a fella thinks he's got a handle on the S&W models, another one pops up.

Just this morning, a Model 520 showed up on GunBoards. Had to look that up too!

There are two different Model 520's.

One is an N frame, fixed sight 357 that was created for the New York Highway Patrol, the other is a 7 shot L frame with a scandium cylinder and adjustable sights.

292 wierd and not cheap...

NM

as I recall the 296 is the ugly duckling

by bj @, Wednesday, February 24, 2016, 19:18 (3198 days ago) @ cubrock

The 296 is the ugly duckling with enclosed or partially enclosed hammer.

The 396 is the black oxide / gray Ti color scheme with conventional exposed hammer like some of the other scandium models.

Yep. 296 is an ugly gun. :) (nm)
