Went to an interesting gun auction today......

It was about 2-1/2 hours from home (it is just about midway from everywhere), but from the listing, I had to go.

The person who bought them in the 1970's and 1980's had passed away and everything was being auctioned. There were two Colt Python's; two Colt Diamondback .38 Spl's; two Diamondback .22LR's; a Colt 1911 Ace in .22LR; a S&W K-22 Masterpiece; a S&W Model 27 in .357 Magnum; a S&W Model 39-2; a Browning .22LR semi-auto; a Walther PP in .22LR; a High Standard target gun in .22LR.

The thing that was interesting was that they were not only NIB and unfired, but I believe the cylinders had never been turned or the slides pulled back. I have never seen so much Colt Royal Blue bluing before in one place in my life. They had been stored well. Not a hint of rust, thin bluing, or anything else on any of them.

There were a number of other brand new guns, but they were not the collectors items like the ones listed above. Just solid serviceable guns. I only saw two guns that had been visibly used. A Winchester 12ga pump and a Savage 99 in 300 Savage. Both were well used, but well taken care of.

The guns went for every penny they were worth, but I don't think anyone got carried away and made a fool of themselves. The working guns went for top working gun prices. The collectors items went for top collectors prices. With the internet nowadays there are no bargains anywhere anymore. It was still an honor to be able to look at such prizes.
