Does anyone know anything about this old Marlin?

Saw it and thought it would be a fun one to play with.

I'm assuming it can be loaded with available .32 S&W dies and brass. I can't imagine a new Centerfire firing pin would be tough to make if one could t be located.

Could be fun...you just never know. I bought an old 1889 Marlin in 32-20 many years ago with a dark bore and it shot fine, but the pits in the chamber made it difficult to extract brass for any loads above powder puff level. Since it was already refinished, I relined it and it works great. This one appears original so don't know if you want to mess with it beyond the CF firing pin, which should not difficult to get or have made.

there are 32 center fire firing pins available. I just bought one for the same project. My research shows that the colt 32 cf will work in the gun slightly modified. My project stalled because I need the spring that holds the lever shut;
Those are chambered for the .32 COLT but can be rechambered

to the .32 S&W which has been MUCH easier to acquire (ammo and brass). Somebody does make firing pins for these, but who escapes me now.

It does not take the .32 short, .32 long, or .32 Colt NP...

It was made for the .32 short & long rimfire and the .32 short & long Colt. These are the same outside dimension. The .32 rimfires & .32 Colts are approx 0.020" smaller in diameter than the .32 S&W's and .32 Colt NP. That may not seem like much, but it is pretty difficult to swage brass down that much. Brass cases, bullets, dies, moulds, are all different sizes from each other.
The firing pin had to be changed out in this gun to change from rimfire to centerfire. As was said, someone on the internet says that they can make either of them for you. The .32 rimfires have not been made since about the 1980's, and that was a special run that quickly reached collectors item prices. The last time before that was probably the 1950's. The .32 Long Colt has not been made for 10 or more years and the .32 Short Colt went out of production 2-3 years ago. Both are hard to find and are expensive when they are found.
I have heard others say that it is easy to rechamber it to .32 S&W Long, but I have never actually read someone say that they did it. There may be other things that we don't know about with that conversion (I remember having a serious problem with replacing a 32-20 magazine on a Marlin because of minor differences between new and old production sizes -- or tolerances). If you decide to do this, let us know how it turns out.
We had a fellow on the leverguns forum who did re-chamber

one of these to .32 S&W Long with "perfect satisfaction". I'll see if I can find the post(s)...

Thanks for the info, Harry. I should have known it would t be so easy! I actually have a box of two of .32 RF (short; I think) around here from Navy Arms left over from N old .:2 RF Roing Block I wish I still had! A local gunsmith buddy recently rechambered and converted a StevensFavorite from .32 RF to .32 SWL, so I know he could do the rechambering for me. I guess if I do go after it, I could test fire it in current form to see if the note is good enough to mess with. I really do love my .32/20's, but having a similar, straight wall caliber would make reloading that much easier which makes plinking with the boys that much more carefree!!

I have read posts from several people who have converted single-shot .32 Rimfire/Colt guns to .32 S&W/S&W Long cartridges. No problems with them. Converting a single shot is evidently easy.
Converting a lever-action may (and I say "may" since I have no personal experience in doing that) can be more involved, what with getting the right diameter magazine, right spring tension, right lifter, right feed, right extraction, and right ejection. I do know that just replacing old Marlin parts with new Marlin parts that were made 75 years apart is difficult enough.
