.223 Remington

A little snow on the ground today with cold rain falling & temperatures in the upper 30s. To bad out to shop Wal-Mart so went shooting instead. The 700 Remington was fed the Sierra 52 gr. HPBT with 26 to 26.5 grs. of WC844. This seems to the be the sweet spot. The target was marked 5 shot but really was 4.

Took the 22-250 along which is also a 700 Remington. The bullet for this rifle was the Sierra #1360 a flat base sptz. I loaded these with a slow lot of 4895 which loads closer to 4064. The sweet spot is 34.5 to 35.5 grs.

These 2 rifles will go with me on a prairie dog hunt. Still have much work to do with them but hopefully I'll make the components on hand work.

Turkeys love this range.

Looks cold down in the "Bowl"

by Bob Hatfield @, Saturday, January 16, 2016, 04:39 (3173 days ago) @ Creeker

I believe that's the "Bowl" Had to got there before when the boy scouts were camping at the 100 yard range and pond. I like to get there at the crack of dawn so I can usually have the range to myself for several hours. Once I pulled up to the 500 yard range and there was a mini-van parked in the shooting area. So I went to the "Bowl".

Shot a few hours and went back to the 500 yard range and the van was still there so I took a closer look at the van and it had lots of bullet holes in it. Dang, I took out gun and eased up to the van. Relief there was no bodies in it. Seems the police or someone was using it for target practice in some kind of match. I thought someone was in it asleep earlier.

Shooting from the picnic table isn't the best but you're alone. A young man was on the 100 range working out loads with a M4 so I let him have the place and went to the bowl. And yes it was cold and wet. ;-)
