I just got the word that Doc Hudson has passed home.

by Rob Leahy ⌂ @, Prescott, Arizona, Saturday, January 09, 2016, 17:28 (3180 days ago)

Apparently he was feeling poorly last night, finally asked his Mom to call 911, and then he died of a massive heart attack on the way to the hospital.

I don't have any other information except that the funeral will be on Tuesday.

Dad gum it.

I forgot about his bug killer sauce! It was really good. Wish I had some now that I am a better cook than back in the day...

I haven't talked to him in years, but still thought of him as a friend. One of many good guys in here that unfortunately I will never meet in person. I need to do my best to meet more of you fine gentlemen face to face to keep that regret as small as possible.

I wish he would have found his way back here and experienced this board being a good place again. It's gone through its phases, but we've definitely got a good group here now!

Doc is among my earliest memories of this place. Met him at CSA and had some of his chili and cornbread. Thoroughly enjoyed his company and his contributions to the board.

Salute Doc!

Rest in peace.

Sad news indeed

Doc was a good friend when I was going through a rough patch. We kept in touch for a while after he drifted away from the boards.

I will miss Doc , and I will also remember him. He is one of the many good guys that I remember reading his post`s when I first found this place. Rest in peace Doc.

I just got the word that Doc Hudson has passed home.

What a shock. I had not read a post of his in years, but he was not a person I would easily forget. May God bless him and his family.

As Doc Hudson once said, “a family”...

by Caz, Sunday, January 10, 2016, 09:37 (3179 days ago) @ Rob Leahy

...is what we are, in regard to this group of posters, who have weathered all the changes over the years. Doc was one of the old gang. I recall well the strong opinions expressed and just as rapidly, a recipe or two. It was Arroz con Pollo and his secret salsa, sent out upon request to one and all. May he rest in peace.

DOC CALLED ON CHRISTMAS DAY FOR A LONG GAB.

by TERRY MURBACH, Sunday, January 10, 2016, 10:40 (3179 days ago) @ Rob Leahy

AND WE DID HAVE A LONG GABFEST ! HE WAS GOING BLIND, COULD NO LONGER DRIVE, AND WAS PRETTY WELL STUCK AT HOME. STILL, HIS ATTITUDE WAS GOOD, WE TALKED AT LENGTH ABOUT HIS LAST VISIT HERE WITH US IN THE BLACK HILLS, AND SHOOTING UP A STORM WHILE HE WAS HERE. I MEAN TO TELL YOU, HE, HIS X-WIFE, AND THE TWO OF US WERE ALL OVER WESTERN SOUTH DAKOTA THAT TIME WOW !!! I TOOK HIM IN THE BACK DOOR OF THE BADLANDS AND EVERYTIME WE'D STOP TO SEE THINGS FOLKS WOULD GAWK AT A HIM, A HUGE SCOT IN FULL SCOTTISH REGALIA, KNIVES AND ALL. HE COULD ALSO CONCEAL NUMEROUS PISTOLS IN THAT BIG KILT. WHEN WE STOPPED AT THE INDIAN RUN RESTAURANT THERE SOUTH OF THE "ENTRANCE" OF THE BADLANDS THOSE INJUNS LOOKED AT HIM, LIKE HE WAS MONSTER. FROM AROUND CORNERS, WHISPERING AND POINTING. WE LAUGHED OURSELVES SILLY OVER THAT.
DOC HUDSON WAS A FINE FELLOW AND HIS PASSING IS A LOSS TO ALL OF US SIXGUNNERS. GLORY BE AND HALLELUJAH, MAY THE LORD BE MERCIFUL UPON YOUR SOUL, DOC.

I was just remembering his visit with you folks. Thanks!

DOC CALLED ON CHRISTMAS DAY FOR A LONG GAB.

by Amerileiro, SW MO, Monday, January 11, 2016, 15:18 (3178 days ago) @ TERRY MURBACH

I was remembering when he came through SW MO and I met him in Mt Vernon. He stuck a 44 Mag in my wife's hand and said, "here little lady. Shoot this!" She didn't even hesitate and emptied it on the target. I asked my wife if she would shoot more often with me if I too wore a kilt. But I don't have a chance at making the same impression he did in his. The only chance I had to meet him. It is a fine memory I'll have for life.

I only new him from this board, but I have the impression

by ERSisk @, Sunday, January 10, 2016, 14:16 (3179 days ago) @ Rob Leahy

Doc was one to Kick in the pearly gates and announce his arrival, rather than knock on St Peters door. I am saddened by the news.

I just got the word that Doc Hudson has passed home.

by Drago, Sunday, January 10, 2016, 17:14 (3179 days ago) @ Rob Leahy

I am at a loss for words. Doc and I discovered we were descended from the same clan of Scots, MacDonald, Lords of the Isles. I was sorry that we didn't keep in touch. I really missed his comments here and on Lever guns.
God Bless you Doc! God speed!

Never met the man, but my prayers go out for him

by Jared, Tuesday, January 12, 2016, 08:51 (3177 days ago) @ Rob Leahy

I remember Doc from as early as the Earp.com days, probably 1997-98. My earilest memory of meeting him was in 2003 while camping at the Mattengly's. Kathry and I, Jason Freeman, Lance, Jack and someone else had already turned in for the night. Doc and Marcia arrived about 11:00 and set up their camp. The next day he cooked a bunch of food on Dutch ovens for the group.

I talked with him via Email a few years ago and then lost contact. He had been in my thoughts lately too.

God's speed my friend.
