In Southwest Kansas, anyone hunt prairie dogs there? I have some information coming.

I live about a hour and a half away. Yes, fair populations exist, but not the numbers there used to be. Pretty country...

Is a hunt doable on your own? I don't need giant towns. A 100 rounds per day would make me happy.

Very doable on your own. 100 rounds a day will happen, might have to move spots a time or two. If I'm available I'd be happy to "guide".

We are thinking of renting an apartment or perhaps a small house for 2 to 4 weeks, maybe in May & just doing whatever there is to do in a days drive.

Well, there is not a ton do do in Morton Co Kans! Amarillo is about 150 mi south. There is a fair+ motel in Elkhart, KS, a Pizza Hut, and a couple restaurant's. There is Black Mesa State Park in the far western Oklahoma panhandle not far away. Neat to see. The area was the center of the Dust Bowl, there is a museum or two around.

Still planning & will be for awhile. If things work out hope to meet you & maybe do some shooting. Only killed one prairie dog & did that from an 18 wheeler with a 44 mag SBH. The statue of limitations have long passed.
