I searched to see what they looked like. Should be a neat set up when you get it up and running.

I found one on Gunbroker.

I had an 81DL that belonged to my late brother-in-law. One of the most accurate .22s I ever fired. Would literally put a magazine full of Federal Lightning (cheap bulk .22LR from years ago) through the same hole at 25 yards.

I gave the rifle and the last brick of the Federal ammo I had to my great-nephew a while back. Jim (my BIL) raised him, and John has become a fine young man. I figured Jim's rifle ought to go to him and to one of his fine sons eventually.

I'll bet you enjoy the heck out of that rifle when you get it rehabbed.

I grew up with a Glenfield version of this Marlin... it was

Version of the Marlin 81. Years later it was my first rifle, and now it belongs to my oldest son. It's always been very accurate, and is one of the few tube feed guns I've had that would reliably cycle shorts.
