Sad day...

After 7 years of driving my Corvette back and forth to work and enjoying every minute of it, it was time to send it down the line for something more "practical" and I am now driving an Explorer.

As twins now are driving the 4x4 trucks I need 4 season wheels and the 'vette is unsafe in cold weather.

Yes, it has seen 170 mph down a airport runway and a sweaty hands 150 in traffic on a road course. Over 80,000 great miles it needed gas, oil, tires, brakes, shocks, headlight bulbs and a window regulator. It still gets 30 mpg at 80 mph on the highway and can burn off a $1000 worth of rubber in an afternoon.

I remember driving Caitlyn to the airport for Airborne School and Thomas driving home from high school giving his friends a parade wave with cramps in his face from smiling so hard.

The end of an era and an amazing car. Get these kids out of the house and it's a new Stingray for me. 2 years and counting!!!

It was a great ride and I will miss her. After 7 years just sitting in the car still made me smile. Oh well.

Reality takes over for awhile, then you can enjoy your dream again. Great looking 'Vet. Never had a 'Vet but I really have hated to let some others go - especially my '67 Bronco.

I hear ya... a few years back I had to sell my Porsche 914 street/track car to buy a work truck for the ranch... it had seen some fun days too... autocross tracks, solo events... pushin 6grand (legally) on the Autobahn in Germany... many cross country trips to TDY locations in the USA... it was a sad day to see it go...

and today I was told I have to get another vehicle for the ranch as the wife is set to go on a "Walk About" with our one and only vehicle ... our Farm Truck.. she needs it to pull her RV...

So... to that end.. the only practical way I see to fund the second vehicle for the farm is for me to sell all my guns again... I was told I could keep one for the farm... decisions ... decisions... some days I just want to throw up my arms and say.. "Ok.. take me... I'm done".. SIGH

40 years ago away I parted ways with a British racing green 750 Norton Combat Commando. Faster than 440 Chargers, Hemi Cudas, Vettes and Super Cobra Jet Mustangs. 100% of the sale price went towards a diamond wedding ring for Miss Becky. Absolutely the smartest thing I have ever done, transportation no matter how exotic is just Nuts and Bolts a good woman is priceless.
