[image]Picked up a deer rifle for the munchkin but Dad will probably have to break it in... Academy had CVA Hunter single shots in 223 for $229 with scope. Not a high dollar scope (Konus) but a pretty good feeling compact little rifle. Hated to pass it up. My brother has one in 7mm 08 that is a handy little thing. Now to get it to the range...

Not a bad set up for the bucks.

Please report back with your impressions.

The CVA crackbarrel rifles IMO are one of the reasons for

the demise of the H&R rifles. I have shot several, all with better triggers right out of the box than any of the new H&R's.

I handled a youth model H&R and the lockup wasn't as crisp

As I expected - there wasn't that snick/click when I closed it. Seemed to be solid lockup but struck me as odd. In Internet search I ran across several people reporting the higher pressure caliber H&Rs would pop open upon firing. I really liked the feel of the CVA. Didn't feel as clunky. The rifle is made in Italy which sure beats China!!
